 Historic Atlanta Oakland Cemetery.

Humble tombstones of the fallen Confederate soldiers. Elsewhere in the cemetery, the subdued "Lion of Atlanta" (constructed soon after the war in 1894) and the towering Civil War obelisk are symbolic contrasts to the other monuments in the nation depicting Union war heroes erected much later in the following century.

Jewish Quarter with crowded graves. The African-American section is mostly grass with few markers, whereas beautiful mausoleums crowded the "Slave" section, where the originally buried bodies of African-Americans have since been long removed. Begs the question, if history is written by the victors, who were the real winners in the American civil conflict?
