Atlanta Day 5

By Lionina - 11:10 PM

Public Transportation by bus. In a twist, the MARTA looks almost exactly like the BART inside except different colors, so riding in there everyday was quite uncanny.

No noodles or extraneous stuff. Simply, Matzo Ball Soup. This bowl of liquid gold is just about the most perfectly tender Matzo Ball and pure chicken broth I've ever had. As a matter of fact, the Jewish nosh at General Muir is several steps above anyone else. If there is one restaurant I wish I could have gone back to twice in Atlanta, it is this one.

 Chai latte

Deliciously cured, but not overpoweringly salty, delicately textured corn beef, gentle bite of sauerkraut, Reuben with bread so fresh and crust so biddable, not a bit was a detriment to the act of actually eating. This sandwich was somehow light and well balanced, compared to Refuge's also yummy but heavy flavor bomb.

Think Arby's roast beef sandwhich and up the fresh factor by multiples of crazy, where the beef is so pink and thin and perfectly gristle free that it virtually melts in your mouth. Amazing. The crispy new pickles are very curiously spiced but again, balanced to perfection. I couldn't convince the waiter to elaborate on the secret ingredient.

 Smoking Kills!

Biohazard inspection in Hazmat suit and Electron Microscope. Doing Science!

Butter & Cream Ice Cream - Sophisticated execution and unusual but comforting flavors.

 Dulce de Leche

 Salted Butterscotch, Honeycomb Forest

 Revival Southern Food

Sweet potato dumplings and collard greens

Shrimp with chow chow served like a bruschetta

We are starting to be fans of liberally seasoned southern fried chicken with the thin style breading that lets the skin peek through and the brined meats to sparkle. This biscuit was smokey puck of lard - not that that's bad thing.

 Buttermilk Sky Pie

Apple, Chocolate Pecan, Pecan, Buttermilk
